Volunteering to be a FHLL umpire is a simple process...

For Adult umpires —

1. Submit to background screening by following these instructions.
2. Sign up for umpire training.
    
   • POSTPONED - March 7th and 14th, Bases (classroom) – PICK ONE: REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW UMPIRES
     • ​10:00-11:30 am at Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane, Alexandria, VA 22306
        
   • POSTPONED - March 8th and 15th, Plate (field) – PICK ONE: REQUIRED ONLY IF YOU PLAN TO BE A PLATE UMPIRE
     • ​1-4 pm at Fort Hunt Elementary School, 8832 Linton Ln, Alexandria, VA 22308
        
   • POSTPONED - March 21st, Bases (field training) – REQUIRED FOR ALL NEW UMPIRES (MAKEUP DATE MAY BE ARRANGED FOR THOSE WHO CANNOT ATTEND)
     • ​3-5 pm at Fort Hunt Elementary School, 8832 Linton Ln, Alexandria, VA 22308
        
   • TBD, Plate (field training) – AN ALTERNATIVE FOR PLATE UMPIRES IF CAN’T MAKE MARCH 8^TH OR 15^TH SESSIONS
      
3. After training, you’ll be added to an email distribution list used to announce game dates and umpire needs.

POSTPONED  - NOTE: We have added a 1-hour refresher course for returning base umpires. These field training sessions will be held from 1 to 2 pm at Fort Hunt Elementary School on March 8^th and March 15^th.

The Fort Hunt Little League always needs more volunteer umpires, and in order train parents, former players and others for this critical role, FHLL and Virginia Little League District 9 offer numerous training opportunities annually for those interested in learning the basics and more advanced techniques.
